Visual Literacy with Teachers in Singapore – Talk Oversubscribed in 1 day!
Excited about the talk that we are giving on Tues, July 10th, with the English Language Institute of Singapore, “Visual Literacy for the 21st Century”. We will be speaking with the very funny Otto Fong, who’s Sir Fong series of books teaches science through comics.
Thanks to the hard work of Audrey Lee and her team at ELIS, the talk was over-oversubscribed in 24 hours!
There’s definitely a lot of interest in visual literacy as we all know that that’s how the world communicates now – through pictures and signs.

Really enjoyed the talk. It was both informative and inspiring. Felt as if I was the only primary school teacher there, though.

Hey David… thanks! I was really nervous about the talk. Yeah, most of the teachers seem to be secondary level teachers. If you have any ideas about using comics for the lower grades, let me know. I know that while my little daughter can’t participate in my print text reading, she often leans over and asks questions and comment when I’m reading graphic novels – simply because she has the visuals as a point of entry.
