Colin wrote a short story called ‘Last Time’, which was included in ‘Singapore Noir’, part of Akashic Books’ bestselling ‘noir’ anthology series. In Singapore, he participated in 2 launch events at Kinokuniya and Books Actually, and he’ll be reading an excerpt at the US launch with some of his fellow contributors on June 3rd, at Mysterious Bookshop (58 Warren St, New York, NY 10007) at 6.30 pmThere’ll also be a reception with complementary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres!

OLD SCHOOL KUNG FU FILM FESTIVAL

We helped give out prizes at NYC’s Anthology Film Archives’ Old School Kung Fu Film Fest, showcasing the work of Lau Kar Leung, like the 36th Chamber of Shaolin (少林三十六房) and Master of the Flying Guillotine (独臂拳王大破血滴子)!

Singapore International Translation Symposium

We just came back from sharing our experiences with Dim Sum Warriors in a special presentation to an international audience of professional translators, academics and writers at the Singapore International Translation Symposium. We talked about translation not just in terms of languages, but also the special considerations when translating for comics and apps.

Singapore Advocacy Awards

Colin was also invited to participate in a debate benefiting the Singapore Advocacy Awards.
His team was asked to argue that avocados were more useful than advocates, and – shock! horror! – the audience decided that they won!
